Experiencing Gratitude Associated With Greater Longevity Among Older Adults Diet and exercise are often touted as the cornerstones of Lifestyle Medicine, but other healthy habits can also have remarkable effects on health. For example, a recent study suggests that practicing gratitude can help older adults live longer. “Gratitude appeared protective against every specific cause of mortality studied, most significantly against cardiovascular disease.” (Source: Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health)
How to Make a Nation of Meat Eaters Crave the Humble Bean How can America reverse its trend of heart disease? What can be done to slow the effects of climate change? Surprisingly, these two different questions might share a common answer: Eat more beans. The average American devours around 22 pounds of chicken for every one pound of black beans they consume. This article highlights the need for change, and reminds us that “when a bean conversion does happen, it can be an almost religious experience.” (Source: New York Times)
